Liverpool have already strengthened their first-team squad but could move to bring in a younger talent soon, with AS, via Sport Witness reporting that the Reds want Assane Diao from Real Betis.

Who is Assane Diao?

The Anfield outfit have already poached Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig and Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton, but it appears the Premier League side may be changing tack with one of their newest targets.

That's because they appear to have one eye on the future and a more youthful addition in this transfer window in the shape of Real Betis' Diao. The 17-year-old has yet to feature in the first-team for his club, but has already featured heavily for their reserve side despite his youth. In fact, he has played 20 times for them in the Segunda Federacion and the signs are promising – in 20 games for the Spaniards, he has already bagged four goals and two assists.

He hasn't just shone for his club's reserve side though. The forward has also been capped for his country's youth team as well, featuring once for the Spain Under-19 team. Diao also qualifies for Senegal citizenship, but it is Spain he plans to play for at the time of writing.

The wonderkid, who can play as either a central striker or on the wing, joined his current side from Balon de Cadiz back in 2021 but only began to really feature for the Betis Under-19 team last year. However, he hasn't let his age hold him back and he has now caught the eye of teams from afar because of his showings in Spain.

Are Liverpool signing Assane Diao?

That's because, according to a report from AS, via Sport Witness, Premier League side Liverpool are now circling the player and are considering a move to bring him to Anfield this summer.

It won't be a straightforward deal to pull off though, with the club also facing competition for his signature from RB Leipzig. Both clubs look set to launch moves for Diao this window and with his deal expiring in 2024, there is every chance that they could get it done. That's because the report adds that he is yet to put pen-to-paper on a fresh agreement with his current side, who are panicked by the interest from both suitors.

There isn't much to go off with Diao yet, who is described as "powerful" in the same report. With very little in terms of first-team appearances, this would be a signing for the future from either club if they did manage to land the player.

Considering that he is still only 17-years-old, he would not slot straight into the Liverpool first-team, and he wouldn't be able to head to England under new rules that forbid foreign youngsters from moving below the age of 18.

Therefore, any signing would only take real effect on his next birthday, and one has to assume the Reds may struggle to land a work permit immediately, so we could see what the teenager is made of during loan spells if FSG can get a deal done.

In total, the Portuguese youth international has scored 55 goals and assisted 42 in 79 appearances for City's academy, which works out at an average of a goal contribution every 0.81 matches.

These statistics suggest that the Saints target, who was once lauded as "phenomenal" by talent scout Jacek Kulig, has the quality to burst onto the scene at senior level if given a chance in the Championship next term.

There is no guarantee that he will be able to translate his form over to first-team football but his outstanding return in front of goal from the left wing for City's U21 and U18 teams suggests that it is a gamble worth taking for Martin.

Borges could be the dream replacement for Elyounoussi after the Norway international struggled to find his best form at the top end of the pitch prior to his departure.

The 28-year-old dud was unable to provide attacking quality on a regular basis in spite of being a regular starter throughout the campaign. He started 27 of his 33 Premier League appearances last season and contributed with one goal to go along with one assist.

Southampton's decision to release him at the end of last month may have been an easy one after his disappointing performances, with his average Sofascore rating of 6.64 placing him 20th in the squad.

Borges could now come in and potentially offer a huge threat as both a scorer and creator of goals in a way that Elyounoussi was unable to, if the 5 foot 7 teen can make the step up and replicate his form at youth level.

Norwich City are locked in a stalemate over the potential transfer of Milot Rashica, with Nevzat Dindar, via Pink Un, reporting that the Canaries want £8.5m for the winger this summer.

How many goals has Milot Rashica scored for Norwich?

The 27-year-old didn't play for the Championship club during the 2022/23 season, instead spending the campaign out on loan with Galatasaray in the Super Lig. The Turkish side, who are now wanting to add him to their ranks permanently, managed to get four goals and six assists from the winger in the league over the course of 26 appearances. It meant that his goal contribution per 90 tally stood at 0.53 – the second-best of his career, showing how the side were able to get the best out of the forward.

The Canaries so far have failed to see the same output from Rashica in England. Having signed him back in 2021/22 when they were in the Premier League, he managed only one goal and two assists in 31 division outings as the club finished rock bottom of the table. With the side condemned to the Championship, he played four times for them in the second tier, with one assist, before heading to Turkey on a short-term basis.

Are Norwich City selling Milot Rashica?

Now, Galatasaray want to bring him back to the club permanently – doing a deal for the 27-year-old this summer though seemingly won't be easy. That's because, according to a report from Nevzat Dindar, via Pink Un, Norwich have laid out the fee that they want for the forward – but the Super Lig outfit are not prepared to pay it.

The EFL side want around 10 million Euros (£8.5m) in order to sell Rashica this summer. That would mean that they generate a similar fee to the amount they initially stumped up to bring him in. However, even though he has impressed in Turkey, the European giants are not keen to spend so much money on the winger. Instead, they will only go as high as 7 million Euros according to this report (or £6m). It would leave the Super Lig side over £2m off the asking price – so right now, it appears a potential deal is at a stalemate.

The best solution for both sides may be to reach a compromise and sell the 27-year-old on. His time with Norwich hasn't resulted in the kind of performances that the second tier outfit would want, with his small goal contribution tally meaning he hasn't repaid much of the money they initially spent on him.

He is also now playing for them whilst they are in the Championship – and with the signing made during their stint in the Premier League, it may be better to get him off the books so they can use the extra funds elsewhere. Right now though, it appears as though the two sides are at an impasse – and something will have to give for a transfer to get over the line.

وأكمل: “نحن نصرف أموالاً كثيرة وحكم جاء بعد 3 أشهر إيقاف ويُحكم لنا، حكم لا ينظر لفيديو ولا يفعل شيء، الأمر يزيد عن حده، بكل الصرف على الأندية ويأتي حكم يهدم كل ذلك”.

Chelsea have held “contacts” with Crystal Palace regarding a deal to sign Marc Guehi this summer, according to reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Is Marc Guehi leaving Crystal Palace?

Upon arriving at Selhurst Park back in 2021, the centre-back put pen to paper on a five-year contract meaning that his deal isn’t set to expire until 2026, but having impressed during his 37 out of 38 Premier League starts last season, he’s been attracting interest.

So far, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Manchester United are the four clubs to have been primarily linked with a swoop for the 23-year-old, who according to Football Insider, is believed to have had a £60m price tag placed on his head, with his club set to stand firm over the valuation of their prized asset.

The England international, however, is no stranger to Stamford Bridge having graduated from the club’s academy during the early stages of his career, and if the following update is to be believed, Todd Boehly and Mauricio Pochettino have reached out to discover what it would take to bring him back to SW6 in the weeks ahead.

Are Chelsea signing Marc Guehi?

In his exclusive column for CaughtOffside, Romano revealed that Chelsea did indeed make an enquiry for Guehi just over a fortnight ago, though at this stage, it doesn’t look as if a deal is expected to come to fruition. He said:

“Marc Guehi – There’s a lot of interest in the Crystal Palace defender, but it’s still too early to say where he will go. Palace players are always linked with moves away but it’s important to underline that Palace have to be respected and they want important money or they keep their stars. Chelsea had some contacts on the player side 15 days ago, but again, no concrete negotiations or anything advanced.”

Chelsea have already sanctioned the sales of Kalidou Koulibaly and Ethan Ampadu this summer so they are likely to be actively searching the market for a young new centre-back, and having been dubbed a “beast” by talent scout Jacek Kulig, Guehi could be the perfect candidate.

The Abidjan native averaged 3.6 clearances, 1.5 aerial wins and 1.4 tackles per top-flight game last season, via WhoScored, so is a real rock both on and off the ground at the heart of the backline, but that’s not the only place that he can pose a threat.
