أكد أحمد حسام “ميدو” لاعب الزمالك السابق، أن وظيفته الجديدة في نادي بيراميدز هي المتحدث الإعلامي والمستشار الفني، مُشيرا إلى أنه لا يمتلك صلاحية التدخل في عقود لاعبي الفريق الأول.

وقال ميدو خلال مداخلة ببرنامج “بي أون تايم”، عبر شاشة “أون تايم سبورت”: “انا عملي في بيراميدز مستشار فني، والإدارة كانت ترى أن هناك قصور في التواصل مع الإعلام ولذلك أصبحت المتحدث الرسمي أيضا، دوري أن أحمي المدير الفني واللاعبين على قدر استطاعتي، ومحاولة تصحيح الصورة المغلوطة عن بيراميدز”.

وتابع: “انا مستشار فني للإدارة والمدير الفني، وأقول ما أراه يناسب المصلحة العامة، وهذا ليس معناه أنني سأتواجد في كل مباراة”.

واضاف: “المدير الفني لبيراميدز قوي جدا ولديه سيرة ذاتية مختلفة، الفريق يتكون من لاعبين مميزين وإن شاء الله سنحاول تحسين كل شيء”.

وبسؤاله” كنت تهاجم ارتفاع سقف عقود اللاعبين، ماذا بعد توليك هذا المنصب في بيراميدز والذي يتمتع لاعبيه بعقود مرتفعة؟”، فرد ميدو: “مسألة العقود ليست من اختصاصي، هناك لجنة تعاقدات مسؤولة عن ذلك، ومن كتبوا ذلك أمس (يدسون السم في العسل) أنا لم أتول منصبي من أجل تعديل العقود، جئت لأعمل كمستشار فني فقط”.

واختتم بالحديث عن نادي الزمالك، قائلا: “كان هناك أشخاص يحاولون إقحام الزمالك في مشكلات، لأن النادي كان سلاحهم الوحيد، ولكن نجحنا أن نضع مصلحة النادي أمامنا وبمساعدة الكباتن الكبار أحدثنا التغيير، لا أحب الهجوم على أشخاص في موقف ضعف حاليا لأن هذا ليس من تربيتي، ومن يتفهمون الأمر يعلمون جيدا عن ماذا أتحدث، الزمالك عندما كان يقع في مشاكل قبل ذلك كان هناك من يختبئ، ولكننا لم نفعل ذلك”.

Crystal Palace have a history of playing with a traditional target man up top.

After the aforementioned names moved on, Christian Benteke was the next in line for the throne, signing from Liverpool in a club-record deal worth £27m to lead the line for the Eagles.

The Belgium international thrived in his first season at Selhurst Park under both Alan Pardew and then Sam Allardyce, justifying the decision to pay a premium for his services.

Benteke scored an impressive 15 Premier League goals in his first season in SE25, spearheading a system that suits his strengths – his heading ability and physical power in the air was utilised to the maximum.

Under Pardew and then Allardyce, the south Londoners put in 23 crosses per game, the second-most in the Premier League that season – you can see why Benteke notched as many goals as he did, with seven of his strikes coming via his head.

However, as has been well documented, the former Aston Villa striker has tailed off massively since Roy Hodgson stepped into the hotseat following Allardyce’s resignation and Frank de Boer’s short-lived tenure.

Since the former England manager took charge, Benteke has managed to score just four league goals in the last two seasons prior to the current campaign, and the proof is in the pudding as to why.

It’s the crossing stats again. The 28-year-old thrives in the air and always appears to be most effective when the ball is whipped onto his head – two of his four goals since Hodgson’s arrival have been headers, whilst the other two have been penalties.

Under the 72-year-old manager, Palace put just 15 crosses in per game in the 2018/19 season – the joint-fewest out of any team in England’s top-flight. It’s no surprise that Benteke only managed to notch one header that term, with that being his only goal in all competitions.

So far this season, Hodgson’s much-changed style in comparison to Allardyce’s is continuing as it did in 2018/19 – with few crosses coming in and little success for Benteke.

The Eagles have completed just 16 crosses per game, the fourth-fewest in the Premier League, and things have gotten even worse for Benteke as he has recently been dropped for Jordan Ayew.

In telling fashion, it is the form of the Ghanaian – signed from Swansea this summer for £2.5m – which has served to prove that the target man days at Selhurst Park are over, with Benteke being the main casualty of this changed approach.

Ayew has netted two goals this season whilst playing as a centre-forward in Hodgson’s possession-based game, already netting half of Benteke’s total tally across the last two campaigns in just two games against Manchester United and Aston Villa.

Not to be reactionary, as Ayew could well not score another goal this term seeing as he is far from prolific, but it is becoming apparent that there is no use anymore for a tall, aerially-reliant striker in this Hodgson team.

Despite the Eagles’ history of playing with a traditional target man up top and utilising their best abilities, Ayew’s recent form coupled with Benteke’s woes for the last two years strongly suggest that this era is over at Selhurst Park.

وتابع: “كانت هناك حالة من عدم التوفيق لفريق الأهلي بشكل عام وليس للمهاجمين فقط أمام فيتا كلوب، ومن الطبيعي أن يهبط مستوى اللاعبين بعد كأس العالم للأندية، بسبب المجهود الكبير”.

واردف: “الأهلي لا يحتاج إلى مهاجم، هو يمتلك مهاجمين على مستوى عالي، سواء والتر بواليا أو محمد شريف أو جونيور أجاي أو مروان محسن”.

يُذكر أن الأهلي قد تعادل إيجابيًا مع فيتا كلوب الكونغولي في ثالث جولات دور المجموعات ببطولة دوري أبطال افريقيا.

Charlie Nicholas has suggested to Sky Sports that Kieran Tierney and Hector Bellerin should start for Arsenal against Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday.

What did he say?

Tierney and Bellerin are yet to feature for the Gunners this term, but both returned to first-team training last week as they enter the final stages of their recovery.

Unai Emery’s side have struggled defensively in recent weeks, conceding seven goals in their last three matches.

Nicholas, therefore, wants to see the two full-backs in the side to face last season’s Europa League semi-finalists.

He said: “I would play Kieran Tierney on Thursday and see if Hector Bellerin could start too. Regarding Sunday’s game against Watford, when you see David Luiz giving instructions with 20 minutes to go, you know you are in trouble.”

“Konstantinos Mavropanos is still game time away from being fit. It would be the end if Shkodran Mustafi was to be brought back. We need to get Rob Holding, Bellerin and Tierney back into the side as soon as possible. I would take a hit and play these players to give them game time and let them get match fitness.”

Too soon to risk them

It is, of course, a boost to the north London outfit that the two wide defenders are approaching full fitness, and the former Sevilla boss will be looking to introduce them to the side sooner rather than later. However, it is too early to risk them from the start.

Tierney has been out since June. That is long enough and means that he has not been through a demanding pre-season, but it pales in comparison to the amount of time Bellerin has spent on the sidelines. The 24-year-old ruptured his cruciate ligament in January of this year and has not played since.

They need to be brought back into the fold slowly, and should certainly not be seen as the answer to Emery’s backline woes immediately. After such difficult periods, the last thing they need is too much pressure, both mentally and physically.

Also, a match against Frankfurt is certainly not a fixture that should be seen as an easy match in which to reintroduce them. The German side impressed in Europe last term and are dangerous opposition.

Yes, both players will be needed in the side in the near future. But shouldn’t be thrown in at the deep end on Thursday.

Give them more time, and then utilise them when they are truly ready.

يلتقي ديوجو دالوت المعار من مانشستر يونايتد إلى ميلان، مع ناديه السابق، وعلّق بيولي: “نحن سعداء بتطوره، ومن السابق لأوانه الحديث عن المستقبل، نحن نركز على المباريات القادمة ولست الشخص الذي يجب أن أتحدث عن هذه الأمور”.

وسُئل بيولي.. هل سيكون راضيا بالتعادل أم لا، وأجاب: “يجب أن نلعب بعض المباريات بالتزام واحترام كبيرين، النتيجة الإيجابية غدًا ستمنحنا الدافع لمباراة الإياب، الطريق لا يزال طويلاً، نحن بحاجة إلى مواجهته بحماس”.

وفي تصريحات لقناة “ميلان تي في”، أردف بيولي: “من الواضح أننا نواجه خصمًا قويًا للغاية، نادٍ مرموق له تاريخ وتقاليد عظيمة مماثلة لنا”.

وأكمل: “ستكون مباراة صعبة، لكنها أيضًا محفزة، حيث نحاول إظهار ما يمكننا القيام به، لقد عملنا بجد للوصول إلى هنا، لاختبار أنفسنا ضد مثل هذا الخصم القوي، وفهم المستوى الذي نحن عليه الآن”.

وأشارت إلى أن مينو رايولا وكيل إيرلينج هالاند، ليس على وفاق مع إدارة مانشستر يونايتد، مما يبعد اللاعب عن مدربه السابق سولشاير الذي اكتشفه في مولدي.

في الوقت ذاته، ريال مدريد يترقب الموقف، النادي الإسباني يرغب في ضم هالاند، كما أن اللاعب النرويجي نفسه يرحب بارتداء قميص النادي الملكي أيضًا.

Rangers games are coming thick and fast just now and squad rotation is the name of the game.

One summer recruit who is yet to play more than a bit part role though is Wales international and Premier League winner Andy King – a player hopeful he can win trophies at Ibrox, as reported in The Sun.

But omitted from the match day squad completely against St Johnstone on Sunday, some Rangers fans have been discussing his exclusion.

King arrived on loan from Leicester late in the transfer window and it was thought he would provide much needed experience and quality to the centre of midfield. With just four appearances and fifty one minutes of action so far though, King, as yet, hasn’t had the impact that would be excepted of a player with his pedigree.

After a tough Europa League fixture in midweek where he came off the bench, Sunday’s game could’ve been the ideal occasion to give him a run out, but when the team sheet was revealed there was no sign of King’s name.

Barcelona returned to winning ways on Tuesday night when they welcomed Villarreal at the Camp Nou.

The Catalan giants ran out 2-1 winners, with Antoine Griezmann and Arthur Melo on the scoresheet.

However, Barca were rocked by an injury to Lionel Messi, with the Argentina international replaced by Ousmane Dembele at half-time.

Ernesto Valverde confirmed afterwards that it was a precautionary measure but it’s safe to say that many Barca fans have already decided that this is a bad omen.

They’ve had mixed reactions but most of them seem to be panicking just a little bit, stating the club is doomed without the 32-year-old and even claiming that Messi’s career might be coming to an end.

There were also, of course, fans blaming Valverde for all of it as well.

Problems on the pitch aren’t the only problem, either. Key players Christian Eriksen, Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen look set to leave this club at the end of the season on free transfers.
