A Conmebol inchou a competição do ano que vem. Serão 47 clubes, sendo que 28 entram direto na fase de grupos. Seis clubes de Uruguai, Paraguai, Equador, Bolívia, Peru e Venezuela farão uma prévia, em dia e volta, para definir três clubes que se juntarão a outros 13. Estes 16 disputarão duas fases eliminatórias, em ida e volta, para a definição de quatro classificados. O sorteio dos jogos e dos grupos serão realizado ainda neste mês. O quarto colocado do Brasileirão iria para a fase preliminar. Mas com a saída dos mexicanos da competição, a Conmebol reajustou a competição, assim o Brasil ganhou mais uma vaga direta, que fica com o Atlético-MG. Para isso, foi criada a prévia com os clubes dos países que tinham menos vagas.

Sheffield Wednesday defender Tom Lees is attracting interest ahead of the summer transfer window.

That’s according to The Sun journalist Alan Nixon, who claimed in a recent post on Twitter that Huddersfield Town are considering a move for the 30-year-old in the upcoming transfer window, with the £1.98m-rated centre-back set to become a free agent upon the expiry of his contract at Hillsborough.

Nixon said: “Huddersfield: Big interest in Tom Lees. Sheff Wed defender and soon to be a free agent.”

Moore will be gutted

While Sheffield Wednesday endured something of a season to forget in the Championship, with the Owls finishing the season rock bottom of the second tier, statistically speaking, Lees was one of Darren Moore’s better players.

Over his 38 Championship appearances, the defender helped his side to keep nine clean sheets, as well as averaging 1.8 interceptions, 1.2 tackles and 5.4 clearances per game. He also scored one goal and provided one assist, culminating in an average SofaScore match rating of 6.88 – ranking him as the Owls’ third-best performer in the division.

As such, potentially losing a player as solid as the £22,000-per-week Lees is likely to come as a hammer blow for the 47-year-old Sheffield Wednesday manager as he attempts to build a side capable of bouncing straight back to the Championship next season.

However, Lees does not look likely to be the only departure from Hillsborough this summer, with a number of Wednesday’s first team regulars, including the likes of Adam Reach, Barry Bannan, Joey Pelupessy and Osaze Urhoghide among many others, on contracts which expire in a matter of weeks.

It would very much appear as if Moore has a lot of work to do in the upcoming transfer window just to put a team out for the club’s league opener next season, let alone one which is capable of mounting a promotion charge.

A number of Manchester City fans are far from happy after it was revealed that Leeds United have opened talks with the Citizens to sign Jack Harrison permanently for just £15m.

Harrison joined the Whites on loan in 2018, making this his third year at the club on a temporary basis. During that time, he has managed 18 goals and 20 assists, with this season, his first in the Premier League, being the most lucrative – he has managed eight of each in 35 matches (Transfermarkt).

Now aged 24 and without making a single appearance for City, it is time that Harrison found himself a permanent home. It has been reported by the Daily Star that the Citizens are in talks with Leeds over a deal which would be worth £15m – that fee is said to have already been agreed.

The news was shared on Twitter by @City_Xtra, and it attracted plenty of attention from some supporters. These fans took to the social media platform to share their thoughts on the potential £15m departure of the 24-year-old, with some taking aim at sporting director Txiki Begiristain.

Aston Villa must go back in for Norwich City star Emi Buendia this summer amid a major transfer update from Sky Sports.

What’s the story?

Reports in recent weeks and months have suggested that the Argentine is a target for Dean Smith’s side, with Buendia helping to fire the Canaries back into the Premier League for next season.

Sky Sports have now claimed that both Villa and top-flight rivals Arsenal are ready to renew their interest in the diminutive playmaker, with both clubs making enquiries about potentially signing him this summer.

The report added that Smith “has a long-standing interest in Buendia since first switching to Villa from Brentford”.

Imagine him and Grealish

The £20,000-a-week earner has enjoyed a tremendous season for the Canaries, scoring 15 goals and providing an incredible 17 assists in the Championship alone.

His teammate Max Aarons has raved about Buendia’s abilities, saying: “He’s not really a player who will get on the ball and take you on as a full-back. His game is more about getting into pockets, playing neat passes and creating things.

“When you’ve got someone, who wants to run at you, then it’s easier to lock them down whereas someone like him is quite intricate so it’s hard to get near him. He’s tenacious and very strong. He’s got a lot of attributes.”

Partnering him alongside Jack Grealish would give Villa a legitimate twin threat which could provide constant ammunition for Ollie Watkins to convert into goals. The club captain has 12 assists to his name this season, while the ex-Brentford striker has 16 goals, illustrating how fruitful they can be in tandem with one another.

O técnico Oswaldo de Oliveira se reunirá com a diretoria do Corinthians para discutir o seu futuro no clube. Embora o técnico tenha ouvido que seguirá no cargo em 2017 e esteja participando do planejamento do próximo ano, os cartolas do clube não querem bancar a permanência dele em público. O presidente do Timão, Roberto de Andrade, é defensor do treinador, mas vem sendo muito pressionado para demiti-lo. Em entrevista nesta terça-feira à Rádio Transamérica, o diretor de futebol alvinegro, Flávio Adauto, afirmou que espera “sentir o que Oswaldo quer” para a próxima temporada.

O comandante alvinegro, que tem contrato até o fim do ano que vem, chegou a São Paulo na manhã desta quarta-feira e deve se reunir na parte da tarde com a cúpula corintiana.

-Não vou falar “fica!” ou “sai!”, vamos conversar, vamos avaliar, não sei se vai ser hoje, não sei se o Oswaldo tá no Rio – destacou Adauto.

Flavio Adauto atribui parte da turbulência política no Corinthians aos maus resultados em campo. Na próxima quinta-feira o Conselho Deliberativo do Timão se reunirá, mas o processo de impeachment do presidente alvinegro só será julgado no próximo ano.

O diretor de futebol falou em contratar jogadores “mais contundentes” e atribuiu o desempenho ruim em 2016 às diversas saídas de atletas e técnicos que o Corinthians teve.

Interessado nas contratações dos gringos Néstor Camacho, Juan Cazares, Alejandro Guerra e Orlando Berrío, o Santos pode ter de abrir mão de algumas negociações ou até mesmo de jogadores que já estão no elenco para contemplar os possíveis reforços.

Isso porque a CBF permite que apenas cinco jogadores estrangeiros sejam relacionados por partida nas competições organizadas pela entidade. Além dos quatro estrangeiros que interessam para a próxima temporada, o Peixe já conta no plantel com Noguera, Vecchio, Copete e será reforçado pelo colombiano Vladimir Hernández, que já assinou pré-contrato e se apresenta ao clube em janeiro.

Com isso, existe apenas mais uma vaga aberta para quatro ‘postulantes’. Se o Santos acertar com dois dos quatro estrangeiros que estão em negociação, um jogador do atual elenco de Dorival Júnior terá de ser negociado. E a solução parece fácil de ser encontrada.

O “escolhido” pode ser o argentino Vecchio. O jogador já foi sondado pelo Unión Española, do Chile, clube onde já atuou. O meia, que chegou ao Peixe no meio deste ano, foi pivô de polêmica com Dorival ao reclamar nas redes sociais por não ter sido relacionado após se recuperar de lesão. O Alvinegro não se opõe à sua liberação.

Neste ano, o Santos teve Patito Rodríguez, Joel, Valencia, Noguera, Vecchio e Copete preenchendo as vagas de estrangeiro. O primeiro, porém, foi liberado antes do fim do Estadual para o futebol da Grécia. Joel retorna de empréstimo ao Cruzeiro e o colombiano Valencia foi dispensado e está sem clube.

ولم يمر ذلك الموقف مرور الكرام على آشلي يونج، حيث قال في تصريحات نشرتها صحيفة “ذا صن” الإنجليزية: “نريد أن نجعل ذلك المكان صعبًا، وأعتقد أنه بالفعل هكذا”.

وأضاف: “لقد رأيت الطريقة التي احتفل بها آرسنال بفوزهم، لأكون صريحًا بدا الأمر وكأنهم فازوا بالدوري، ولكن ذلك يثبت أنهم وجدوا صعوبة هنا”.

وواصل: “نريد أن نكون في الأماكن المؤهلة إلى أوروبا، نريد إعادة النادي إلى هناك، الجميع لديه طموح لإعادة النادي إلى هناك بكل تأكيد”.

واختتم: “لذلك نريد أن نجعل ذلك الملعب مكانًا صعبًا للمجئ إليه، ولكننا نريد أن نفوز بالمباريات أيضًا”.
