No último sábado, ele teve boa participação no amistoso contra o Vila Nova, no Estádio Serra Dourada.

Spurs fans will hate latest manager claim

In a stunning new twist, Tottenham Hotspur appear to be on the verge of ending their long managerial search…

What’s the word?

According to reliable football.london journalist Alasdair Gold, former AS Roma boss Paulo Fonseca is incoming sporting director Fabio Paratici’s top target to fill the Spurs vacancy.

The 48-year-old departed the Serie A outfit at the end of the season and was soon replaced by Jose Mourinho, who was sacked by Daniel Levy back in mid-April.

Other outlets have since added further fuel to the fire, with the BBC claiming that the Portuguese coach was in talks with the North London outfit about becoming their next manager.

Hugely uninspiring

As Gold suggests in another tweet, this is a “big gamble” from Spurs and one that will undoubtedly cause more friction amongst the fanbase.

In recent months, several supporters have protested against both the chairman and club’s owners, the ENIC Group, after plans to create a European Super League were abandoned.

But truth be told, this was the mere culmination of many years of underachievement and a serious lack of ambition from the club’s hierarchy. After all, Spurs have not won a trophy since 2008 and it’s been downhill since they lost that Champions League final.

[snack-amp-story url= “https://www.footballfancast.com/web-stories/read-the-latest-spurs-news-manager-gossip-transfer-rumours-team-and-injury-updates-and-much-more” title= “Read the latest Spurs news, manager gossip, transfer rumours, team and injury updates and more!”]

Things could soon go from bad to worse as leading talisman Harry Kane wants out and several of Tottenham’s top-flight rivals, namely both Manchester clubs and Chelsea, are now circling like vultures, as per Sky Sports.

It means Levy has to get this appointment absolutely spot on otherwise he’s under even more intense pressure from those that are effectively paying the bills in North London.

In response to Gold’s initial tweet, you can quickly see that there are plenty of Spurs fans completely against the move – a small sample size but a rather damning one.

“Team will be booed off first game …that’s a shocking appointment,” claimed one supporter, whilst another added: “Seriously is it possible to get a refund on my season ticket Alasdair? We’re being mugged off here.”

There was even popular music star BassHunter chiming in with his thoughts as he suggested that he would rather appoint Sean Dyche and that it was “embarrassing.”

This is just the start, so as Spurs seemingly close in on appointing the former Shakhtar Donetsk boss, anger from around the club will surely only mount up.

Pundit says Fonseca would be underwhelming new Spurs manager

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with several top-class managers, however they have all eventually been ruled out of taking the hot-seat in north London.

Someone who does appear keen though is Paulo Fonseca, with The Guardian reporting on Monday he has agreed to become their new manager, and former Spurs cup final hero Paul Stewart believes that would be an underwhelming appointment.

Fonseca has been in discussions with Spurs about succeeding Jose Mourinho, the man who has replaced him at Roma this summer, and it was a mixed season for Fonseca at Roma as he guided them to a Europa League semi-final but could only see his side finish seventh in Serie A.

There had been a lot of talk about former boss Mauricio Pochettino returning, however having just joined PSG earlier this year it proved to be a difficult deal to sort out and thus, that has led Daniel Levy to the tail end of his list of potential managers.

Spurs are in clear need of a rebuild with star players potentially leaving as well as an ageing backline, so it would be a huge job for Fonseca but before he’s even been given the job. Stewart believes that it would be an underwhelming appointment and he explained why, exclusively to Football FanCast:

“To say the least, it would be underwhelming. Fans thought that Pochettino might have come back and a lot were hoping that it would come to fruition because there are not a lot of options out there.”

When Roma faced Manchester United in the Europa League semi-final, it started well with the Italians looking dangerous in the final third and on the counter-attack, however once the Red Devils settled then Roma’s defensive frailties and inability to retain the ball were exposed for all to see and in the league, it wasn’t much better conceding 58 goals, the most in the top half of Serie A.

Considering Spurs’ squad is not one of the best in the league it could cost over £100 million to make them serious contenders for the Europa League next season.

I was unaware until last week’s ZCO had gone for publication of the date changes in matches that had affected the Zimbabwe fixture list

John Ward15-Feb-2002I was unaware until last week’s ZCO had gone for publication of the date changes in matches that had affected the Zimbabwe fixture list. Not only has the venue for the match against Border B been changed, but it has also been put back a week (starting Friday 15 February) so the team can stay down south to fulfill their match against KwaZulu-Natal B a week later. This of course messes up the Logan Cup programme, as provincial teams are not only bereft of their national players, in India, but also have to find replacements for those in the Board XI. Mashonaland in particular, with two teams to select, both of which must be mutually exclusive, are having selection problems. At Midlands’ request, their home match against Mashonaland A has been put back a week; the others will start this Friday, 15 February. Unfortunately CricInfo live coverage will not be possible, as the security situation in Zimbabwe is now such that it is unsafe even to travel by road, and CricInfo decided in these circumstances not to send their correspondents.Below are the latest UCBSA Bowl tables. The Zimbabwe Board XI is in Pool B. They are under quite a bit of pressure if they are to finish top of the three-day log in particular, and their bowling bonus point figure hints at the reason for this. They have won two run chases, but they need to be able to bowl sides out if they are to win competitions played over a period of time.

Probably the main talking point of the Zimbabwe team to India was the omission of Hamilton Masakadza, debut Test centurion against West Indies a few months ago. Masakadza has actually suffered a severe loss of form and confidence recently; he found it hard to adjust in Sri Lanka and scored few runs in the Under-19 World Cup. The selectors therefore decided he would benefit more from staying at home to play for the Board XI and in the Logan Cup.Otherwise the return of Alistair Campbell, obvious on grounds of form, has been most noted, but Guy Whittall, now Board XI captain, remains on the bench. Former Board XI captain Pommie Mbangwa has finally been remembered and returns to the side after being omitted for over a year, a straight replacement for the unlucky Gary Brent. Bryan Strang might well have got the nod again had he not grown disenchanted and retired from Zimbabwe cricket – not a great man-management coup from those responsible. As Mbangwa and others will agree, players left out need to be encouraged, not ignored.Tatenda Taibu, who did so well at the Under-19 World Cup after a dismal time in Sri Lanka, returns, but as understudy to Andy Flower his role will be limited, unless he does well enough to earn selection as a specialist batsman. That did not work in Sri Lanka.Brighton Watambwa returns, a straight replacement for Henry Olonga, who has not had one of his glory days for many a moon now. Raymond Price comes into the team, so at last we have a specialist spinner, but only one. Doug Marillier was rather surprisingly dropped, so Price will have only Grant Flower to back him up regularly in the spin department.
