Aston Villa are in advanced talks with Chelsea over a club-record deal for Tammy Abraham, according to journalist Rudy Galetti.

The Lowdown: Links have been building

The rumours linking Abraham with a return to Villa Park have been building in recent months.

Villa were thought to be admirers of the forward back in March, and stories in April suggested that the Blues were ready to offload Abraham this summer.

The Mirror claimed last week that Villa were willing to spend up to £40m on the 23-year-old, and one reporter believes talks are now progressing over a Midlands return.

The Latest: Galetti’s claim

Italian reporter Galetti posted on Twitter late on Wednesday evening, suggesting discussions are at an advanced stage.

He claimed that Villa are preparing an offer close to €45m, which converts to about £38.7m.

“Chelsea – Aston Villa: advanced talks for Tammy Abraham. The Villans are preparing an offer close to €45M: the England striker could leave Chelsea soon.”

Should a deal go through at that price, Abraham would become the club’s most expensive signing of all time, breaking the record recently set following Emiliano Buendia’s £34.56m move earlier this summer.

The Verdict: Ambitious

Should Galetti’s claim prove accurate, it just goes to show Villa’s ambition.

Abraham may well rival Ollie Watkins for a starting spot up front, with the likes of Jack Grealish, Buendia and possibly even target Emile Smith Rowe behind in a 4-2-3-1 system.

Smith didn’t play two in attack at any point last season, so you’d expect he’d have the attacking depth required to push on again next season if he gets his man in Abraham.

He already has 26 Villa goals to his name following his loan spell in the Midlands and could prove to be a shrewd signing, even at a record-breaking price.

أعلن نادي برشلونة في بيان رسمي، ظهر اليوم الجمعة، إصابة لاعبه الدولي الإسباني نيكو جونزاليس، قبل مباراة ريال مايوركا.

واستأنف النادي الكتالوني تدريباته استعدادًا لمباراة مايوركا، ويبدو أن صاحب الـ”20″ عامًا تعرض لإصابة في التدريبات.

O ex-goleiro Edinho terá de voltar à cadeia. Após ter aguardado o desfecho do julgamento de apelação judicial em liberdade, o TJ-SP estabeleceu na noite de quinta-feira que Edson Cholbi de Nascimento, teve sua pena reduzida para12 anos e dez meses em regime fechado, e terá de se apresentar assim que o mandado de prisão for emitido pela 1ª Vara Criminal de Praia Grande (SP). Inicialmente, ele havia sido condenado por 33 anos e quatro meses de reclusão, pelos crimes de lavagem de dinheiro e associação ao tráfico de drogas

Edinho terá de apresentar no momento em que a decisão for emitida.Em entrevista ao G1, o advogado Eugênio Malavasi garantiu que o ex-goleiro se apresentará espontaneamente à delegacia. Porém, a defesa agirá:

-Ele já me falou que assim que sair, ele vai se apresentar. Mas, vamos entrar com um pedido de habeas corpus para revogar a prisão dele.

Os demais envolvidos no processo também tiveram suas penas reduzidas:Clóvis Ribeiro, o “Nai”, Maurício Louzada Ghelardi, o “Soldado”, Nicolau Aun Júnior, o “Véio ou Nick”; e Ronaldo Duarte Barsotti, o “Naldinho”.. Nai deverá cumprir pena de 15 anos de reclusão. Já Soldado e Nick irão ficar 11 anos e quatro meses na prisão. Até o momento, “Naldinho” é o único que não se apresentou, e é considerado foragido.

Esta não é a primeira vez que Edinho é preso. Na primeira, o ex-goleiro foi detidocom outras 17 pessoas pela Operação Indra em junho de 2005, realizada pelo Departamento de Investigações sobre Narcóticos (Denarc). Porém, foi solto seis meses depois.

Em janeiro do ano seguinte, teve novamente a prisão decretada com o adiamento da denúncia mas, por uma decisão do STJ, conseguiu responder ao processo em liberdade. No entanto, em fevereiro de 2016 (47 dias depois de ter saído da cadeia), o Ministério Público voltou a denunciá-lo por lavagem de dinheiro, o que resultou em sua prisão até 22 de dezembro.

Edinho trabalhou como treinador quando respondia ao processo em liberdade. Após treinar clubes como Água Santa e Mogi Mirim, neste ano trabalhou no Tricordiano.

Southampton are set to miss out on transfer target Junior Firpo, with The Athletic reporting that he has arrived in England for a medical with Leeds United, which will surely be a cause of frustration for Ralph Hasenhuttl.

According to the Athletic writer Adam Crafton, Leeds will pay £12.8m to sign the 24-year-old from Barcelona this summer, with his move set to be confirmed this week.

Southampton have been heavily linked with the former Real Betis man in recent months and although they have confirmed the signing of fellow left-back Romain Perraud, it seems clear that the Saints need more competition and depth in that position ahead of next season.

After Ryan Bertrand’s departure earlier in the summer, it would be unfair to expect Perraud to be Southampton’s only natural left-back in his debut season at the club, especially with youngster Jake Vokins joining Ross County on loan for the season.

Therefore, it comes as a big blow that another of Southampton’s potential full-back options for this summer is no longer on the market, as it would have been good for Hasenhuttl to have two quality young left-backs competing for a starting spot in his side next season.

Whilst Firpo’s time at Barcelona didn’t really go to plan, as he made just 41 appearances in two seasons at the club, he was competing with a world-class left-back in Jordi Alba, and still has plenty of time to realise the potential he showed at Real Betis.

His former manager at both Betis and Barcelona Quique Setien was full of praise for him when he joined the Catalan side, saying:

“Barca have made a good deal. It’s a boy with enormous potential, youth, desire, excitement and quality. He’s worth the gamble.

“He will make progress at Barca because he has the desire and potential for growth. He has things to improve, of course.

“Barca have made an excellent deal. He has some qualities to polish, and good things that will come in handy.”

Therefore, it seems as if Southampton are missing out on a potential gem in Firpo, and they will have to look elsewhere for another left-back this summer, as they do not want to find themselves in a situation where the only left-back at the club is new signing Perraud as it would be massively unfair on him to be expected to come into a new league and play every game at a high level for an entire campaign.

Hasenhuttl should be gutted that Firpo is moving to Leeds and not to St Mary’s.
