Frank wants £40m Aston Villa star with Tottenham prepared to make key offer

Tottenham manager Thomas Frank is a real fan of one Aston Villa star, and the Lilywhites are reportedly prepared to offer him something key which could well tempt him to north London.

The centre-back was identified by technical director Johan Lange, and there is hope within Tottenham that Takai could eventually replicate the journeys of Lucas Bergvall, Destiny Udogie and Pape Sarr as promising young players who are now crucial to the first team (Alasdair Gold).

Tottenham will pay a record fee for a Japanese player from the J League, around £5 million, but supporters will be hopeful that they could sign a few more senior players as well.

Frank’s side will be competing in the Champions League next season, and they’re in dire need of proven reinforcements to bolster their Premier League squad ahead of another congested fixture calendar.

Tottenham are known to be in talks for West Ham winger Mohammed Kudus, as reported by trusted transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano and other reliable media outlets, with the Ghanaian also apparently keen on a switch to N17.

However, Kudus is not the only Premier League ace garnering their attention.

Tottenham boss Thomas Frank wants Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey

Speaking to Football Insider, former Spurs scout and Daniel Levy employee, Mick Brown, has shared information on their interest in £40 million Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey.

Spurs have been linked with a move for the Englishman in the last few days, but Brown says Frank is a personal admirer of Ramsey, and Tottenham are prepared to offer him more top-flight minutes, which could turn his head.

“Jacob Ramsey has to make a decision,” said Brown.

“In his own mind, he’ll weigh up whether he thinks he’s going to be a regular in the Villa team. If that’s not the case, he has to ask the same question about whether he would be at Tottenham.

“From what I hear, Spurs would be prepared to offer him more minutes from the start of games than he is currently getting at Villa. If that is the case, I’m sure he would be happy to make that move.

Aston Villa's Jacob Ramsey

“He’s had doubts about whether he’s going to be a regular starting XI player at Villa, or if he’s going to be better served moving somewhere else. So a move to Tottenham would be a fresh start and a new environment for him. There have been a few questions about what his future at Villa might look like, because the manager isn’t certain he’s going to be a big part of the plans.

“That opens the door for Spurs, because Thomas Frank rates him, and he’s one they’ve been interested in for a while.”

The versatile 24-year-old has made 167 senior appearances for Villa already, and possesses that unique blend of both youth and experience. Taking this into account, Ramsey could be an excellent option to reinforce Frank’s midfield whilst providing first-teamers with more competition for places.

Strength in depth will be vital for Frank next season, so this is a move which could tick a few boxes.

Romano: Man Utd in contact to sign £100m star, could join in Garnacho swap

Manchester United are now in contact to sign an “expert striker”, who could join as part of an Alejandro Garnacho swap deal, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed.

Garnacho's time at Old Trafford coming to an end

It is difficult to see a way back for Garnacho at Man United, after the winger was controversially pictured wearing an Aston Villa shirt with Marcus Rashford’s name on the back a little over a month ago.

Mark Goldbridge was left furious by the picture, suggesting the Argentina international was trying to engineer a move elsewhere, and there is certainly no shortage of interest in his services.

In fact, Villa recently made an approach for the 21-year-old, joining the likes of Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur in the race for his signature, and the forward is thought to have “heard good things” about playing under Unai Emery.

However, in a report for GiveMeSport, Romano has revealed that United could try and get the winger off the books a different way, as they are now open to discussing the conditions of a swap deal involving Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson.

The Red Devils have recently been approached over starting formal talks for Jackson, with the Blues open to sanctioning the striker’s departure, although the reported valuation of £100m could be off-putting.

A move to Old Trafford is considered a ‘good option’ for the Senegal international, but Ruben Amorim’s side are yet to decide whether he should be their main striker target, with the likes of Benjamin Sesko, Ollie Watkins and Dusan Vlahovic also on the shortlist.

"Expert striker" Jackson could be exciting signing for Man Utd

Of course, there are some doubts over the Chelsea forward, given that he is well-known to not be the most prolific finisher, underperforming his xG by a considerable margin over the past year.

However, the 24-year-old has still been a pretty reliable source of goals and assists ever since arriving at Stamford Bridge, while he also received high praise from former Crystal Palace winger Andros Townsend last season, after impressing against West Ham United.

Nicolas Jackson

Townsend said: “Even last season watching Nicolas Jackson, he had everything but the goals. He had the movement, he had the dribbling, he was getting into some great positions but he just wasn’t finishing them off.

“But, the goals he scored on the weekend were taken competently and confidently like an expert striker.”

It is also important that United get Garnacho off the books, with the Villa shirt stunt proving the winger has little interest in remaining at Old Trafford, and a swap deal could benefit all parties, considering the Blues have signed Joao Pedro and Liam Delap this summer.

'Take good note of what is happening' – Furious Real Madrid to submit report to FIFA over state of Spanish refereeing after controversial red card in win at Real Sociedad

Real Madrid emerged victors with a man down against Real Sociedad at the Anoeta on Saturday, but the club are extremely unhappy with the controversial sending off of Dean Huijsen. In light of the incident, Madrid are believed to be compiling a report which will include all the officiating errors from the current season and the previous one, and this will be submitted to FIFA.

  • Madrid angry after Huijsen's sending off against Sociedad

Real Madrid made it four wins out of four in La Liga under new head coach Xabi Alonso with a hard-fought 2-1 victory in a tricky away fixture against Real Sociedad. However, the three points came at a huge cost, with Huijsen, one of the first names on the team sheet, receiving a straight red in controversial circumstances. In the 32nd minute, Huijsen made contact with Mikel Oyarzabal's shoulder, with the duo sprinting side by side. The ball was visibly not in total control of the Sociedad captain, who went down after the challenge from Huijsen. Referee Jesus Gil Manzano immediately pulled out the red card, judging the defender's action to be a denial of a clear goal-scoring opportunity.

Madrid's feud with La Liga referees continues

The theme from last season seems to have carried over into the ongoing one. Where ex-boss Carlo Ancelotti kept reiterating how he was unhappy with some of the decision-making, it was Alonso yesterday who stood up for his players and expressed his thoughts. After Huijsen was sent off, the Basque-born manager protested the decision and earned a yellow card himself. In the aftermath of the game, footage surfaced online which seemed to indicate the words exchanged between Alonso and the referee.

"Jesus, I don’t want to, but you’re making me think badly, man," Alonso told the referee. "Haven’t you seen that [Eder] Militao is on the side? But Militao is on the side! He’s five meters from the play. This one will go to the CTA (Technical Committee), for sure. It will go on video [for review], for sure."

In the post-match press conference, Alonso made it clear that Huijsen did not deserve a red. "For me it was a yellow card. Militao was close, the ball wasn’t under control, and there were still 40 meters left," the former Bayer Leverkusen coach said. "That’s my interpretation. The referee had another one, and VAR should have had another one too, but I’ve seen the replay and I haven’t changed my mind. I asked him, he gave me his explanation, but I wasn’t entirely convinced. We’ll leave it at that."

  • Madrid urge FIFA to 'take good note of what's happening in Spanish football'

After the game, Real Madrid TV, the club's official media channel, announced that Los Blancos would compile a report documenting all the errors in refereeing this season and from the last one. "Real Madrid is preparing a report with everything that has happened in these first four rounds of La Liga and what happened last season," said the announcement. "A dossier, that report, which is going to be submitted to FIFA so that they take good note of what is happening in Spanish football with regard to refereeing."

Crisis in defence ahead of Madrid's Champions League opener

Although Saturday's victory was overshadowed by the controversy, Alonso and his troops will be eager to put that behind and focus on Wednesday's Champions League opener against French side Marseille. Madrid were dealt a huge blow on the eve of the Sociedad fixture, with Antonio Rudiger ruled out with a thigh injury which will keep him out of action until December. However, Huijsen will be available with his suspension only served domestically.

Kepa’s top-level experience is a real asset to Arteta, and the Spaniard’s impressive performances on loan at Bournemouth last term seriously suggest that he’ll keep number one David Raya firmly on his toes.

Zubimendi comes in as a world-class replacement for Jorginho after years of convincing La Liga displays at boyhood club Real Sociedad, while Norgaard’s Premier League know-how and reliability helps to shore up Arteta’s midfield further.

Arsenal supporters will have to wait before seeing Madueke don the red and white jersey, though, as he’ll play no part in their pre-season tour of Asia. The Englishman is resting after competing in the Club World Cup with Chelsea, but the same cannot be said for Mosquera, who’s flown out to Singapore and joined up with his new teammates (The Athletic).

However, the name on everybody’s lips in the past few weeks has been Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres.

The Gunners reached an agreement in principle to sign him midway through July for a potential £64 million, including add-ons (The Athletic), and after a lengthy wait, the striker is now expected to complete his move to north London after a breakthrough earlier this week (Fabrizio Romano).

Gyokeres’ eagerness to join Arteta’s side has been well documented, and his agent even reduced any commission fees due to help facilitate the transfer.

Viktor Gyokeres set for Arsenal medical in next 24 hours

In terms of when fans can expect to see the Sweden international on the field, they won’t have to wait long at all.

According to Fabrizio Romano, sharing his latest update on the saga, Gyokeres is set to have a medical at Arsenal in the next 24 hours. The 27-year-old has been given the formal green-light to travel with all necessary paperwork exchanged, with Romano adding that the centre-forward is “coming soon”.

Gyokeres’ arrival has been cried out for, especially after Arsenal’s struggles breaking down teams in the low block across 2024/2025. Indeed, the signing of a prolific striker was a long time coming, and Arteta can now breathe a huge sigh of relief.

Arsenal drew more Premier League games than any other side in the top 10 last campaign, scoring just 69 goals, but Gyokeres’ potency in the final third will come as a serious antidote to their scoring woes.

“The news on Arsenal signing Gyokores is massive; Arsenal have signed well, but signing a No9 in Gyokores can be the missing piece of the jigsaw to get Arsenal over the line for the title,” said club legend Ray Parlour, via GB News.

“He still has to prove himself in the Premier League as the Portuguese League is different, but this will give the whole club and fanbase a huge lift, and excitement will build ahead of the new season.

“We’ve been missing and out-an-out No9 and now they signed one, it can be the missing link that Arsenal have been waiting for.”

Will Harry Kane score 50 goals? Bayern Munich striker has no ‘limits’ after hitting second hat-trick of Bundesliga season

Harry Kane claims to have no “limits” to his game, with the Bayern Munich striker being asked if a 50-goal season is possible. The free-scoring England international has already reached 13 through just seven appearances, with his second Bundesliga hat-trick of the 2025-26 campaign being recorded in a thumping victory for Vincent Kompany’s side away at Hoffenheim.

  • One blank for club & country

Kane has failed to find the target in just one appearance for club and country this term, with that solitary blank being posted against Augsburg in August. The 32-year-old frontman put down an early marker when hitting the net in a Supercup win, which earned him a second trophy triumph.

  • Can Kane hit a half-century of goals?

His first Bundesliga outing saw another matchball claimed against RB Leipzig, with three braces and a treble being registered since then. Kane was back in hat-trick mode versus Hoffenheim and – after breaking the 40-goal barrier in the last two campaigns – sees no reason why he cannot reach a half-century.

  • Confident Kane expects goals to flow

When that question was put to him, Kane told : “I generally don't set any limits for myself, we'll keep going. Sometimes things don't go as hoped for a striker. But right now I have the momentum and I'm enjoying it.”

He added on his stunning form: “I feel good. I know I'll get my chances in this team. Big praise to the lads. I'm working hard for the team, and the goals will come.”

Kane's Bayern record: Remarkable numbers posted

Man Utd ready to smash British transfer record to form unstoppable front three

Manchester United are in the hunt for new arrivals this window and could be set to make a statement on the market under Ruben Amorim with the competitive kick-off approaching, according to a report.

Fernandes demands Manchester United signings after Everton draw

Manchester United won the Premier League Summer Series after a 2-2 draw with Everton, but that didn’t stop Bruno Fernandes demanding that his side make new signings in a passionate post-match interview.

He stated: “It’s improving, but it’s not where we want it to be. It’s a game of football, there’s always passion there. Whatever happens, happens.”

Later, he added: “I don’t want to have a dig at anyone, but I think the club is doing the best they can in terms of all the financial situations they talk about. I don’t know about it, I’m not involved in that. But obviously, it was crystal clear we needed more competition for the players that were here.”

In light of some strong words from the Portuguese international, Manchester United intend to bid for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, who has shot onto their radar as a key target following his exploits in Germany.

Raising funds will be important to ensuring there is an adequate budget available for Amorim to spend, and Alejandro Garnacho’s potential departure to Chelsea could place some vital financial capital into the coffers at Old Trafford.

Alejandro Garnacho.

With the new league season now less than two weeks away, there is still plenty of work for Manchester United to carry out as a new dawn comes into play, and they could now be set to up the ante on that front amid recent developments.

Man Utd look to assemble explosive front three with Vinicius Junior

After the arrivals of Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, Manchester United are ‘preparing’ a bid for Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior as Sir Jim Ratcliffe looks to make a ‘flagship’ signing during the early part of INEOS’s reign.

The Brazil international is out of contract in 2027 and is yet to pen an extension in the Spanish capital due demands to be placed alongside Kylian Mbappe in their wage structure. Now, reports in Spain reveal the Red Devils are ‘willing’ to make a ‘monumental proposal’ worth around £174m, which would eclipse the British transfer record by a wide margin.

INEOS want to ‘assemble an explosive offensive trio with Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha’, and Vinicius’ future has taken an ‘unexpected turn’.

Last season, the Brazilian superstar registered 22 goals and 19 assists in 58 appearances across all competitions. Still, he could now be set for a surprise new challenge with Florentino Pérez not willing to bring him to parity with Mbappe’s pay packet.

Financially, Manchester United would be stretched to put together a package worthy of tempting the world-renowned star to England, though Ratcliffe and company do seem like they are willing to put their best foot forward.

Antonio Conte is no 'football Taliban!' Napoli coach hailed for adjusting to Kevin De Bruyne arrival and Romelu Lukaku injury as Fabio Capello sings ex-Chelsea boss and Max Allegri's praises

Antonio Conte’s Napoli have adapted seamlessly to Kevin De Bruyne’s arrival and Romelu Lukaku’s injury, with Fabio Capello praising the Italian tactician and his AC Milan counterpart Max Allegri. Napoli reshaped their attacking approach around the Belgian star, while Conte’s flexibility contrasts with Allegri’s composed style with Sunday’s Milan clash promises a tactical showdown and Serie A spectacle.

  • Conte and Allegri off to strong starts in Serie A

The pre-season loss of Lukaku to injury coupled with the many new additions to the Napoli squad posed some danger for the Italian tactician, but the reigning Italian champions are off to a strong start this season. They are top of Serie A with a perfect record thanks to the incorporation of summer signing De Bruyne and the presence of Rasmus Hojlund, a late arrival from Manchester United.

Meanwhile, Milan have undergone an overhaul since Allegri was appointed ahead of the new campaign. The have a new-look midfield with Luka Modric and Adrien Rabiot doing well alongside Youssouf Fofana despite promising big-money signing Ardon Jashari being ruled out through an injury.

It is the flexibility of both coaches, Capello told , that makes them among the best in the game.

Capello praises Napoli and AC Milan coaches

“Both Conte and Allegri always have their teams in control, even though they don't have fixed formations," he said. "Both know how to be flexible, adapting to the material at hand, without tactical prejudices like football Talibans. They are exceptional at organising and recognising players, even when they have to buy players on the market."

Asked what the key difference between the pair are, he added: "The way they communicate externally. Both have strong personalities and can always be very direct, but Max is more corporate and composed, while Antonio tends to complain more, even pointing the finger at the club."

  • Kevin De Bruyne’s impact at Napoli

Belgian international De Bruyne’s move has been hailed as transformative for Napoli. The 34-year-old already has two goals to his name in Serie A already, but Capello stressed there are still challenges ahead for the coach.

"Conte had certainly already established some rules, but De Bruyne's arrival and Lukaku's injury forced the coach to reshape the team," he said. "For example, with the Belgian centre-forward, we looked more for the layoff, the ball to his body to let his teammates move forward, while with Hojlund, we logically go deeper. The key, however, will be to increasingly make De Bruyne comfortable, the man who can help you make the leap in quality, even in the Champions League, where Napoli must play a leading role."

  • Romelu Lukaku injury and Napoli’s adjustments

Lukaku’s absence has forced Conte to reconsider Napoli’s frontline dynamics, the 32-year-old suffered a high-grade lesion of the rectus femoris in his left thigh, as per reports, during a friendly against Olympiacos and has begun rehabilitation. Last season, Lukaku was crucial, registering 14 goals and 10 assists in Serie A. Napoli now face a critical test of squad depth, balancing the need for immediate attacking output with long-term Champions League ambitions.

Player adamant he'd join Tottenham with Eze, Levy ready to pay over £60m

Tottenham Hotspur are attempting an ambitious end to the summer transfer window by backing Thomas Frank with multiple key additions.

Spurs have a few key areas of the first team to reinforce, especially following James Maddison’s long-term ACL injury and club legend Son Heung-min’s departure to MLS.

Dejan Kulusevski is also expected to remain out for a long time yet too, after injuring his knee towards the back end of last season, while defender Radu Dragusin’s own ACL tear in January means he might not be back until December.

As Tottenham’s injury nightmare continues into the Frank era, it is reliably believed that Spurs are targeting three major signings before deadline day on September 1 – a new centre-back, winger and attacking midfielder.

This is backed up by Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge in a Q&A from last week, with the Lilywhites since identifying Bayer Leverkusen star Piero Hincapie as their ideal central defensive target (Paul O’Keefe).

Piero Hincapie in action for Bayer Leverkusen

Before any move for the Ecuadorian, though, it is more likely that Tottenham will put pen to paper on a deal for Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze.

Eze has already agreed personal terms to join Spurs, according to reliable media sources, with Daniel Levy and Steve Parish holding fresh talks over the 27-year-old’s transfer this week (Fabrizio Romano).

A move for the England international is on the verge of being completed, but final details remain before Spurs can fully seal an agreement for Eze, with Palace also on the hunt for a replacement, which could be Leicester City’s Bilal El Khannouss.

Alongside Eze, Tottenham have been pursuing Man City winger Savinho in a separate deal (Fabrizio Romano).

The player’s own agent, Frederico Moraes, told Jorge Nicola last week that City rejected a £42 million bid from Spurs for the Brazilian, with Pep Guardiola’s side holding out for closer to the £67 million mark.

Savinho is currently out injured for weeks and missed City’s opening day 4-0 win over Wolves at Molineux on Saturday, and Guardiola is personally keen for the 21-year-old to remain at Eastlands.

Savinho adamant he'd join Tottenham with Levy ready to spend over £60m

The former Girona star would be an absolutely excellent addition for Frank.

Savinho was a key member of the Girona side that shockingly competed for a La Liga title in 2023/2024, bagging 11 goals and 10 assists in all competitions that year, and he managed double digits for assists again last season at City.

He can play both on the right and left-hand sides too, as well as through the middle on occasion, so the South American would be an adept replacement for Son and cover for Kulusevski.

Despite Guardiola’s stance, City’s price tag and his injury, journalist Graeme Bailey has told TBR Football that Spurs have no intention of throwing the towel in when it comes to signing the player.

It is believed that Tottenham held fresh talks over a deal for Savinho on Sunday, and the forward is adamant behind-the-scenes that a move to Spurs is something he’d be open to.

As well as this, Levy is apparently ready to spend over £60 million on his potential signing, and any fee beyond that mark would come much closer to City’s reported asking price.

This is definitely still one to watch in the coming days, as Savinho will want guaranteed game time ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

Eberechi Eze to Tottenham twist as reporter drops "interesting" new update

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly closing in on a deal for Crystal Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze, following rounds of talks involving Spurs chairman Daniel Levy and his south London counterpart Steve Parish.

The two club chiefs held negotiations again on Tuesday, according to Fabrizio Romano, and the potential transfer is heading in a very positive direction.

Now, some credible media sources are even reporting that Tottenham have reached a ‘verbal agreement’ to sign Eze, with a deal in principle now reached between Spurs and Palace as the Lilywhites make real progress to secure the 27-year-old’s signature (Ben Jacobs).

Insider, Paul O’Keefe, stresses that while this is a significant development, Thomas Frank isn’t exactly certain to bring the England international to N17 just yet.

Spurs are still waiting for the “final green light” from Palace as Oliver Glasner’s side scour the market for a replacement, with all the financial details agreed verbally but nothing signed on paper – meaning the transfer could still collapse.

As we’ve seen from the saga involving Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White already this summer, it is important for Tottenham not to count their chickens until Eze signs his contract.

Gibbs-White was on the verge of joining Spurs for £60 million and a medical was due to take place last month, before Forest unceremoniously blocked the move, threatened legal action and somehow got the 25-year-old to sign a new contract.

Tottenham handed "interesting" Eberechi Eze update after agreement claims

Now, Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol has shared what he knows about Eze and his potential move to Spurs.

The journalist has urged on-lookers not to get too ahead of themselves when it comes to the former QPR sensation, telling Sky that a deal isn’t exactly all wrapped up just yet.

Eze would be Tottenham’s arguable best signing of the summer, and exactly what Frank is crying out for.

His 14 goals and 11 assists in all competitions last season highlight just how devastatingly creative the player can be in the final third, with his versatility as both a central number 10 and left-winger coming as another major incentive for Levy to get this deal as soon as possible.

Frank needs a replacement for the injured James Maddison, and Eze fits the bill in all departments.

Harry Kane could make Tottenham return amid 'fear' he will leave Bayern Munich at end of season following leak of release clause

Harry Kane's return to Tottenham is reportedly not as 'fanciful' as many would believe despite being happy at Bayern Munich. The 32-year-old is said to have a £56.7 million release clause that could come into effect at the end of the season. And there are 'fears' in Germany that the England international could leave the Bundesliga giants in 2026.

  • Kane's Bayern release clause leaked

Earlier this year, it emerged that in Kane's Bayern contract, which runs until 2027, there was a £67m ($90.5m) release clause that was active during this summer. With the ex-Spurs man staying put at the German giants, that is no longer the case, but now reports suggest that the clause will drop to £57m ($77m) next summer.

    Kane to return to Tottenham?

According to , the 'fear' in Germany is that Kane could leave Bayern next summer. The England captain is 'extremely happy' in Munich but a return to the Premier League is not being ruled out. However, for this latest release clause to be active, Kane must inform Bayern of his intention to leave before the end of January 2026. For the time being, though, he is going nowhere.

  • Spurs have special clause in Bayern deal

The report adds that Tottenham have a first-option agreement on Kane as part of the deal that took him to Bayern in 2023. That would, however, only be applicable should Bayern agree to sell Kane and the striker wanted to return to Spurs. Kane may also reportedly be tempted back to the north London team now that executive chairman Daniel Levy has left, the club may be willing to give him bigger wages than before, and the Premier League goalscoring record may also be on his radar.

    Kane targeting Bayern success

After winning his first-ever trophy earlier this year with Bayern's Bundesliga triumph, Kane is said to be focusing on lifting more silverware, particularly in the Champions League. That may be possible if he keeps up his remarkable scoring rate, with the forward bagging 98 goals in 103 games for Bayern.
