Writing on Twitter, Fabrizio Romano has relayed news from fellow journalist Gianluca Di Marzio with a big transfer development now coming out of Tottenham Hotspur.

The Lowdown: Big summer of change for Spurs…

As reported by Alasdair Gold, Lilywhites supporters could be set to witness a big summer of change at the club.

Tottenham will need to adopt a sell-to-buy policy amid the financial crisis caused by coronavirus.

Spurs missed out on much matchday revenue due to empty stadiums and were severely impacted off the field by the pandemic (Evening Standard).

However, there are still plenty of links to star players and potentially reasons to believe the club will, in fact, spend some money this summer.

It is now believed that Tottenham have entered the race to sign VfB Stuttgart winger Nicolas Gonzalez and that new football managing director Fabio Paratici is said to be a big fan.

“Nico Gonzalez is expected to leave Stuttgard in the next days,” said Romano.

“Fiorentina offered €25m add ons included, Brighton interested too but Tottenham are now planning for a move.

“Fabio Paratici appreciates him – no official proposal yet from Spurs.”

وأصبح مستقبل محمد صلاح في الأنفيلد محاطًا بالغموض، نظرًا لعدم توصله إلى أي اتفاق حتى الآن مع مسؤولي ليفربول بشأن التجديد بسبب الاختلاف حول الراتب المالي.

وذكرت تقارير أن محمد صلاح يطالب براتب أسبوعي يتراوح بين 450 – 500 ألف جنيه إسترليني، وهو ما يتعارض كليًا مع سقف رواتب ليفربول.

وواصل: “هذا شيء آخر عليك النظر إليه، كم عدد الأندية التي يمكنها دفع 500 ألف جنيه إسترليني في الأسبوع؟”.

وأردف: “بالنسبة لي مانشستر سيتي وريال مدريد، ربما لا يستطيع بايرن ميونخ أن يتجاوز إلى هذا الحد، لا يمكنني التفكير في ذلك”.

واستكمل: “أنت تتحدث عن فريقين، ربما ثلاثة مع باريس سان جيرمان أيضًا، برشلونة لا يزال لديه الكثير من الديون، يجب أن يكونوا حذرين حقًا”.

وأضاف: “لقد رأيت الطريقة التي احتفل بها آرسنال بفوزهم، لأكون صريحًا بدا الأمر وكأنهم فازوا بالدوري، ولكن ذلك يثبت أنهم وجدوا صعوبة هنا”.

وواصل: “نريد أن نكون في الأماكن المؤهلة إلى أوروبا، نريد إعادة النادي إلى هناك، الجميع لديه طموح لإعادة النادي إلى هناك بكل تأكيد”.

واختتم: “لذلك نريد أن نجعل ذلك الملعب مكانًا صعبًا للمجئ إليه، ولكننا نريد أن نفوز بالمباريات أيضًا”.

A number of Manchester City fans are far from happy after it was revealed that Leeds United have opened talks with the Citizens to sign Jack Harrison permanently for just £15m.

Harrison joined the Whites on loan in 2018, making this his third year at the club on a temporary basis. During that time, he has managed 18 goals and 20 assists, with this season, his first in the Premier League, being the most lucrative – he has managed eight of each in 35 matches (Transfermarkt).

Now aged 24 and without making a single appearance for City, it is time that Harrison found himself a permanent home. It has been reported by the Daily Star that the Citizens are in talks with Leeds over a deal which would be worth £15m – that fee is said to have already been agreed.

The news was shared on Twitter by @City_Xtra, and it attracted plenty of attention from some supporters. These fans took to the social media platform to share their thoughts on the potential £15m departure of the 24-year-old, with some taking aim at sporting director Txiki Begiristain.

Newcastle have suffered a major blow ahead of their Premier League clash against Leicester City on Friday night.

What’s the story?

Steve Bruce’s side face the Foxes off the back of a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Arsenal at St James’ Park last weekend, with the game seeing Fabian Schar return from injury and get sent off.

Now, The Chronicle’s Lee Ryder has confirmed that the Magpies’ attempt to get the red card rescinded and thus avoid a three-match ban have proved fruitless, and Schar will not be available for the Tyneside club starting with the game against Leicester tomorrow.

Relaying a club statement: “Newcastle United’s appeal against Fabian Schär’s red card, picked up during Sunday’s match against Arsenal, has been unsuccessful.

“Schär was dismissed by referee Mike Dean in the 90th minute of the game following a tackle on Gabriel Martinelli. An independent panel reviewed the incident following United’s appeal to the Football Association but has upheld the decision. The Swiss defender will miss United’s next three matches against Leicester City, Manchester City and Sheffield United.”

Bruce will be gutted

Speaking in his post-match press conference after the game against the Gunners, Bruce said: “The way it is at the moment and the rules are…there’s no tackles anymore. I don’t think it deserves a red. Maybe it’s a yellow.

“Is it dangerous? Not really. I have sympathy for Fabian Schar. He tries to win the tackle. Maybe a yellow card but certainly not a red.”

The Magpies boss clearly felt Schar was hard done by, so news that the FA have upheld the decision to stick with the on-pitch decision will surely leave him gutted.

To make matters worse, the centre-back had only just returned from a lengthy injury that had seen him miss the last ten Premier League games, so for Bruce to lose him again, this time down to suspension, is a hammer blow.

Rangers may already have their long-term replacement for Allan McGregor sorted in 17-year-old Jay Hogarth, who was rewarded with a new contract at Ibrox recently and has been training with Steven Gerrard’s first-team.

It was revealed last week that the teenager had signed a new deal with the Ibrox outfit to keep him contracted until 2023, with him clearly having impressed those at the club with his performances with the youth side and in training.

In fact, despite being so young, he was spotted in first-team training ahead of the home game against Slavia Prague in the Europa League working alongisde the vastly experienced McGregor and Jon McLaughlin.

Therefore, he has already had the chance to impress Gerrard and his coaching staff in training, and they wouldn’t have given him that opportunity if they didn’t believe in his ability, so there seems no reason why he can’t have a bright future at Ibrox.

Although he is probably a few years away from breaking into the first-team for matches, perhaps he could be the man to replace McGregor in this Rangers side when he eventually retires, with the 39-year-old having been a key fixture in Gerrard’s side so far this season.

Although the former Hull City man’s contract is currently set to expire at the end of the season, his impressive record of 16 clean sheets in 24 Premiership appearances speaks for itself, whilst he has made some world-class saves throughout the season, perhaps most memorably in the final stages of the 1-1 draw against Slavia Prague.

When McGregor does eventually retire, whoever replaces him will undoubtedly have some big gloves to fill, but if Hogarth can continue to impress in the youth sides and with the first-team in training, perhaps he will be the one to step up as the veteran shot-stopper’s replacement.

Southampton’s hopes of signing Levante winger Jorge de Frutos this summer appear to have been handed a huge boost, with the La Liga side having reportedly lowered their asking price for the 24-year-old.

According to reports from Spain, Levante are willing to sell de Frutos for just €15m (£12.8m) this summer, despite him reportedly having a €25m release clause with Les Granotes.

Southampton have been linked with a move for the 24-year-old recently, and given that the club’s finances have undoubtedly been negatively impacted by the current viral outbreak, this news could be a huge boost for the Saints’ chances of signing the Spaniard this summer.

However, Real Madrid are also seemingly keen on bringing de Frutos back to the Bernabeu, having sold him to Levante last summer, so Martin Semmens may have to act fast if he wants to steal a march on Los Blancos and convince him to move to St Mary’s instead.

The winger has enjoyed an impressive debut campaign with Levante so far, having contributed three goals and seven assists in the Spanish top flight, resulting in an average WhoScored match rating of 6.69/10.

WhoScored suggests that de Frutos likes to dribble, cross and tackle, which immediately marks him out as someone suited to Hasenhuttl’s style of play at Southampton, with his wingers expected to regularly track back and defend.

The Saints have often lacked the final pass on attacks this season, which has regularly seen them struggle to find the back of the net, with just 36 goals in their 29 top-flight fixtures so far.

The £7.2m-rated winger is someone who could help provide that extra bit of quality in the final third, as he has contributed one key pass per game in La Liga this season, which would rank him as the joint-third best in Southampton’s squad for 2020/21.

Therefore, it seems clear that the Saints could benefit from a player of his quality, so given this price reduction, Semmens should definitely try and bring him to St Mary’s this summer.
